About the Course
Sociology is the scientific study of human society and social behavior.  Students will gain broad knowledge of some of the most important theories, concepts, and scientific methods that sociologists use to analyze and understand the social world.  This class is accelerated for the summer start 5-week session.  
Course Goals/Learning Objectives
1. Describe the cultural, social, and historical dynamics that influence individuals and groups.
2. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of contending explanations or interpretations for social, behavioral, and historical phenomena.
3. Recognize relevant evidence supporting conclusions about the behavior of individuals, groups, institutions, and organizations.
4. Discuss the basic principles and operation of government with a view to being a responsible citizen.

SOC 10000 Introductory Sociology

Description
Credit Hours: 3.00. A survey course designed to introduce the student to the scene of human society. Fundamental concepts, description, and analysis of society, culture, the socialization process, social institutions, and social change.
