About the Course

Organizational behavior is the interdisciplinary field dedicated to understanding and managing people at work. This course seeks to accomplish three primary objectives. First, this course is designed to introduce you to the basic principles and concepts of Organizational Behavior. Second, this course will introduce you to the problems involved in managing people in organizations by examining issues relating to the interaction between human beings and the organizational context within which they work. Third, this course seeks to help you gain a better understanding of your own organizational behavior, both as an employee, team member and leader.

Course Goals/Learning Objectives
COURSE OUTCOMES:

1. Explain what motivates specific individuals.

2. Describe when and how to acquire, display, and use power.

3. Evaluate your stressors and learn how to reduce stress when you experience these triggers.

4. Apply the concepts of organizational behavior, as they relate to employees, teams, and leaders. (For example, we'll examine how Google builds great teams, and apply those concepts to your own employability.)

5. Analyze the impact of organizational culture in the contemporary workplace and your career success.

Description
Credit Hours: 3.00. This course investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and organizational structure have on behavior within organizations for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization's effectiveness. Attention is given to such topics as motivation, leadership, group processes, organizational structure, technological innovation, and conflict management. Emphasis is placed on developing management skills and application of organizational behavior theories. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer.
